About this location: Furano
Furano, in central Hokkaido, is famed for its lavender fields centered on Farm Tomita. Mid-to-late July is peak bloom, when the purple carpet against blue sky makes one of Japan's most painterly scenes. Other herbs and flowers bloom from August through autumn.
