Kiyomizu-dera, founded in 778 and a UNESCO site, represents Kyoto. The 'Kiyomizu Stage' uses no nails in its wooden framework and overlooks central Kyoto from 13 m up. Cherry blossoms in spring, autumn foliage, winter snow, and evening illumination offer breathtaking scenes.
