About this location: Kobo Mountain Tumulus
Kobo Mountain Tumulus in Matsumoto is one of eastern Japan's oldest «zenpo-koho-fun» keyhole-style burial mounds (built late 3rd century). Sitting at 650 m on Mt. Kobo's summit, about 4,000 cherry trees burst into bloom in mid-April. The summit panorama of Matsumoto city and the Northern Alps — snow-capped peaks framed by cherry blossoms — is one of Matsumoto's finest spring views.
