El Castillo de Himeji, terminado en 1609, es Patrimonio Mundial y Tesoro Nacional. Sus muros de yeso blanco recuerdan a una garza blanca en vuelo, de ahí su apodo «Castillo de la Garza Blanca». Tras su restauración de 2009-2015 luce un blanco impecable.
