Le col Bihoro, à 525 m sur la route 243, domine le lac Kussharo. Le grand panorama de la caldeira figure parmi les plus belles vues de Hokkaido. Mers de nuages matinales, brume et couchers de soleil lui donnent plusieurs visages saisonniers.

- Sea of Clouds (September–November) — appears on clear, windless mornings with a big temperature gap; Mt. Mashu floats above the clouds
