La penisola di Shiretoko, Patrimonio Naturale Mondiale, si protende nel mare di Ohotsk. Foreste primordiali con orsi bruni e gufi pescatori, ghiaccio alla deriva invernale e le cascate Kamuiwakka estive rimangono intatti. Le scogliere a picco sono visibili solo dalle barche turistiche.
