O Pavilhão da Fênix de Byodoin, sítio UNESCO de 1053, aparece no verso da moeda de 10 ienes: ícone do Japão. Sua forma simétrica parece flutuar sobre o lago Aji, uma visão da Terra Pura tornada terrena. Glicínias na primavera, verde no verão, folhagem no outono e silêncio invernal: todas belas.
