Kiyomizu-dera, fundado em 778 e sítio UNESCO, representa Kyoto. O «Palco de Kiyomizu» do salão principal não usa pregos e mira o centro da cidade de 13 m de altura. Cerejeiras na primavera, folhagem de outono, neve invernal e iluminação noturna oferecem cenas de tirar o fôlego.
