מצר נארוטו בין טוקושימה לאי אוואג'י נחשב לאחד משלושת זרמי הגאות הגדולים ביותר בעולם (רוחב מקסימלי 1.3 ק"מ). הגאות והשפל של האביב והסתיו מייצרים מערבולות עד 20 מ': צלמו מסירות תיורות או משביל אוזו-נו-מיצ'י מתחת לגשר אונארוטו.
