O estreito de Naruto, entre Tokushima e a ilha Awaji, conta-se entre as três maiores correntes de maré do mundo (largura máx. 1,3 km). Marés de sizígia de primavera e outono produzem redemoinhos de até 20 m: fotografe de barcos ou da passarela Uzu-no-Michi sob a ponte Onaruto.
